Raising Jewish Children: Research and Indications for Intervention

Jewish schools that deliberately create a post-denominational culture, and encourage self-examination and choice in the construction of Jewishness, are a relatively new phenomenon on the Jewish educational scene. In many communities they are thriving, and are more successful than Conservative or Reform schools. A few studies of individual institutions suggest that Jewish education proceeds in a very different way in many of these schools. New research should examine the impact of post-denominational community schools on the Jewish lives of their alumni.
