Anti-Semitism and Jews are not on a first blind date. Jews have been able to live, and sometimes thrive, despite anti-Semitic environments. Jewish discomfort comes from several different populations that harm the Jews in different spheres. The following figure, drawing on field research, illustrates the three main types of anti-Jewish hatred and their expressions in daily life.17
