2026 Annual Assessment:<\/a> The State of the Jewish People in Israel and the Diaspora, examining the condition of the Jewish people through analyses by the Institute\u2019s experts across six dimensions: geopolitics, cohesion, resilience, identity, demography, and Israel\u2013United States relations.<\/p>\nThe assessment finds that Hamas and Hezbollah have been significantly weakened, Iran has suffered a severe blow, and new opportunities have opened for Israel to deepen regional cooperation. However, these military achievements have yet to be translated into a stable political and strategic framework.<\/p>\n
JPPI proposes building on these achievements to create more favorable political, security, and economic conditions and shape a new regional order, strengthening alliances and reducing long-term threats.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the assessment identifies a series of challenges that cannot be resolved through military power: Israel\u2019s crisis of legitimacy in the West, growing fragility in relations with the United States, changes in relations between Israel and Diaspora Jewry, worsening antisemitism worldwide, and deepening polarization within Israeli society.<\/p>\n
The report calls on decision-makers to reinforce the partnership with the United States and American Jewry, strengthen cohesion within Israel, and prepare for the possibility of large-scale immigration to Israel by building the necessary infrastructure.<\/p>\n
In this context, JPPI focuses on the triangular relationship between Jerusalem, Washington, and American Jewry, viewing them as a single interconnected system. Decisions made by the Israeli government affect American Jews; the standing of American Jews affects Washington\u2019s ability to support Israel; and American policy affects both. The Institute recommends developing a shared strategic language across all three before the next crisis.<\/p>\n
JPPI also calls for antisemitism to be treated as a strategic challenge and for interministerial tools and mechanisms to counter its spread in artificial intelligence systems. According to the assessment, antisemitism is already affecting the behavior of Jews and their sense of security around the world, while the threat is expanding into artificial intelligence systems, search engines, and knowledge platforms that will shape how the next generation understands Jews, Zionism, and Israel.<\/p>\n
A notable feature of this year\u2019s assessment is its treatment of emigration from Israel as a strategic phenomenon in its own right. The population of Israelis living outside Israel has grown significantly in recent years. The report therefore calls for a new policy that goes beyond encouraging aliyah and also helps Israelis living abroad maintain their ties to Israel and Israeli culture.<\/p>\n
Prof. Yedidia Stern, President of the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI), said:<\/p>\n
