Is there a global Jewish demographic crisis? Will there be a Jewish Diaspora in the year 2100? Will the State of Israel have a Jewish majority by 2050? These and similar questions have recently emerged with renewed emphasis in scientific and public discourse about changing Jewish population trends at the dawn of the 21st century. New population estimates from several large Jewish communities in the United States, Europe and Latin America indicate a declining course related in part to large scale migration, but more substantially to growing assimilation, outmarriage, low birth rates and ageing.
