An Eye Gazes toward the Diaspora: Israel’s Commitment to Diaspora Jewry

Nation-State Law: Israel is responsible for the Jews of the Diaspora, must ensure their security and, strengthen their connection to Judaism and the State.
The Jewish People Policy Institute and the B’nai B’rith World Center-Jerusalem, organized a joint symposium that dealt with the implementation of Article 6 of Israel’s 2018 Nation-State Law, which enshrines its commitment to work to preserve the bonds between the state and the Jewish people of the Diaspora. The issue has gained momentum in light of the tensions between Russia and Ukraine and the plight of the Jewish communities in Ukraine as the crisis unfolds.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Diaspora, Dr. Nachman Shai, the Chairman of the Zionist Executive and acting Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Yaakov Hagoel, the Director General of the Jewish Agency, Amira Ahronoviz, the Institute’s researchers, and winners of the B’nai B’rith World Center-Jerusalem Award for Journalism Recognizing Excellence in Diaspora Reporting.
