JPPI’s Privacy Policy 

The Jewish People Policy Institute (hereinafter: “JPPI,” “we,” “us,” etc.) respects the privacy of our partners, program and research participants, donors, contacts, employees, and website users (hereinafter: “you” or “users“). Your privacy will be protected and your information managed responsibly, in accordance with applicable law.

It is important to us that you understand how we handle your information (“Personal Data“). This Privacy Policy describes the types of Personal Data we collect, how we collect it, and how we use it. You are not obligated to provide us with information, but occasionally certain details may be required to provide services, participate in an activity or research, or for employment purposes. If you choose not to share certain information with us, you may not be able to benefit from some requested services. By providing us with details about yourself, sharing information, or using the JPPI website, you are expressing your consent to this Privacy Policy.

To operate our services and fulfill JPPI’s goals, we collect various types of information, including:

  • Technical information – Technological data obtained when using the website, related to the geographical location of the computer, mobile phone, or digital device used to access the JPPI website or digital channels under our control.

Information is collected directly from you, on your behalf, or from other authorized sources, in accordance with applicable law.

  1. How Do We Collect Personal Data?

Personal Data is collected as part of our activities, when you register for mailings or services, participate in programs, visit our offices, or use our website, as detailed below:

  • Direct collection: When you provide information, or information is provided on your behalf, including when filling out forms (online or manually), applications, as part of the donation process, registering for services, or in any other way you choose to contact us.
  • Automatic collection: When using JPPI’s digital services, technological data is automatically collected, independently or with third-party assistance. This includes technical data, network address (IP), URL, operating system, browser type, browser plug-ins, time of use, screen resolution, and phone numbers, through cookies and similar technologies, and control and monitoring systems, in accordance with the law.
  • Third-party information: In some cases, we may obtain or collect personal data from third parties for operational, auditing, contact, or other purposes, including from affiliated companies, partners, other third parties, or public information sources.
  1. For What Purposes Do We Collect Personal Information?

JPPI collects and processes personal data for various purposes, including:

  • Fulfilling the contractual obligations arising from agreements between you and JPPI, providing information, support, and additional services.
  • Sending updates regarding services we offer or that you have requested from us.
  • Conducting surveys and questionnaires on topics related to JPPI and its areas of activity.
  • Providing and improving services, handling inquiries, requests, complaints, conducting satisfaction surveys, and receiving feedback.
  • Marketing: Sending updates, notifications, publications, and essential and relevant messages, including via mail, e-mail, text message, etc.
  • Human resources and supplier relations: Interactions with employees, suppliers, service providers, and contractors, as well as supervising JPPI’s employees, representatives, and job candidates.
  • Administrative and operational tasks: Including documenting activities, producing reports, data analysis, auditing, risk management, and debt collection.
  • Legal compliance: Fulfilling JPPI’s obligations, including legal, statutory, and financial obligations, relating to JPPI, its employees, donors, and third parties.

JPPI processes data through third parties, including:

  • Representatives and related entities working in collaboration with or on behalf of JPPI.
  • Information and cloud systems: Customer relationship management, task management, data analysis, document management, donation management, technical support, storage services, marketing, and the like.
  • External service providers and consultants: Service providers, contractors, professional consultants (including legal, business, technology), and system operators on behalf of JPPI, who assist in fulfilling our contractual obligations, improving our services, maintaining systems, handling inquiries, and analyzing data.
  • Courts, judicial bodies, and other authorities: For the purpose of conducting legal proceedings, exercising rights, or complying with binding decisions of competent authorities.
  1. Where is Personal Data Stored?

Personal Data is stored in systems and servers under our control or ownership, or processed on our behalf by reputable cloud and data storage service providers. We may transfer personal data outside of Israel for storage, processing, and backup purposes. In such cases, we will safeguard your privacy and ensure that your personal information is protected in accordance with applicable law.

  1. Data Subject Rights

Under Israeli law, you have the right to review or correct your personal information, or to request removal from mailing lists. To exercise these rights, you may contact us at the email address: info@jppi.org.il. In your request, please specify the required details, including identifying details, reasons for the request, and the context in which the data was collected. It is clarified that these rights cannot be exercised in violation of the rights of JPPI, its employees, or the proprietary rights of third parties. In the case of a marketing mailing list, you can remove yourself directly using the unsubscribe link in the body of the message itself.

  1. Data Retention

JPPI will retain your personal data for as long as we consider it necessary to provide services and comply with legal and other obligations, assist in resolving disputes, and enforce our policies. Please note that non-personal or anonymous data may be retained indefinitely. In addition, certain data may be retained on the servers of our service providers, such as in backups, in accordance with the privacy and retention policies of those third parties.

  1. Collection of Personal Data and Cookies on the Website and Digital Systems

When using JPPI’s website, ordering sites, and other digital platforms, personal and technical-digital data is collected, including through cookies and other tracking technologies. This enables system functionality, improves user experience, customizes services to your needs, and gathers statistical data.

What are cookies? Cookies are small text files sent to your browser when you visit a website or online system and stored on your device. Some cookies are necessary for proper and secure system functionality; others are used to analyze usage patterns, customize content, and improve the performance of services.

The types of cookies that JPPI may use include: A. Essential cookies: Required for system operation and basic functionality (such as secure account login. B. Functional cookies: Used to store user settings and preferences (such as language, time zone). C. Analytics and performance cookies (e.g., Google Analytics): To collect statistical information on digital system usage, for analysis and service/content improvement. D. Marketing or third-party cookies: If present, these are used to tailor advertising and content to your preferences, and are only activated with your consent, as required.

Collected data includes, among other things: IP address, browser type, operating system, location, device information, session duration, and pages viewed or accessed. You can modify your browser or device settings to delete or block some or all cookies. However, blocking essential cookies may cause some digital services to malfunction.

  1. Information Security

JPPI applies appropriate organizational and technological measures, in accordance with the 1981 Israel Privacy Protection Law, the 2017 Privacy Protection Regulations (Data Security), and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and accepted professional standards, to protect personal data and prevent unauthorized access. JPPI limits access to personal data to those who: (1) require access to this information to fulfill JPPI’s obligations; (2) meet personal data management and access requirements; (3) have signed confidentiality agreements, in accordance with the law.

JPPI’s information systems are protected by various measures that include, among others: A. Access controls and permissions based on role and responsibility; B. Data encryption during transmission and, where required, during storage; C. Firewalls and intrusion prevention systems; D. Monitoring and detection of abnormal activity; E. Regular data backup and recovery in the event of a failure or unusual event; F. Maintenance of a secure server environment.

JPPI restricts access to personal data to its employees, suppliers, and subcontractors acting on its behalf, who need the information to perform their duties, and subject to their commitment to maintain confidentiality and comply with relevant legal requirements. Despite all measures taken, JPPI (or any other entity) cannot guarantee absolute data protection. Nevertheless, JPPI is committed to acting immediately and reasonably to correct any deficiency or security flaw that is discovered, and to report security incidents as required by law. 

  1. Changes to the Privacy Policy

JPPI reserves the right to update, amend, or replace this privacy policy from time to time, as necessary, to reflect changes in legislation, official guidelines, technological developments, or our operations. In the event of a material change to this policy, JPPI will publish a clear notice on its website and other communication channels, as required by law. Continued use of JPPI’s services after such changes take effect constitutes consent to the updated Privacy Policy.
